As you are strolling through the French Quarter, you may stop and ask yourself, how did I end up at Disney World? You might even look up and think that your Birthday wish from when you were 5 years old finally came true… Everyone already knew you were a princess, you just needed the castle so your prince charming could find you. Makes total sense as to why Prince Charming hasn't shown up yet, right? Well, a castle-like as it may seem, you are actually looking at St. Louis Cathedral.
I had to stop by Jackson Square to walk through the park and admire the architecture of the St. Louis Cathedral. The cathedral is one of New Orleans' most notable landmarks. The Cathedral-Basilica of St. Louis King of France, is the oldest Catholic cathedral in continual use in the United States. It has been around since the 1700s. It is adorned with stained glass, a painted ceiling & an active congregation of 6,000 members.
Real talks, I think this is the most hermosa photoshoot spot for you and your friends within the French Quarter!
Whenever the cathedral is not in service it is open to the public for prayer & tours. Jackson Park and the courtyard area is absolutely gorgeous. I highly suggest taking a walk around, spend some time to admire the gardens, sip lemonade while sitting at one of the many benches or stalk out a person who looks like they know how to find the right angles, and take a great picture of you and your group!
If you are looking for an alternative to partying, or just need a breather from the Louisiana heat, you should put visiting the St. Louis Cathedral and Jackson Park on your must do list. It is certainly a gorgeous spot to eat a picnic at .or simply enjoy some people watching gold!
Outside the Cathedral, there are rows of vendors and plenty of street performers to watch. However, I do find it ironic that there are fortune tellers, palm readers and tarot card dealers camped outside a church.
